Lauridsen Festival Concert

Join Dr. Lauridsen for a choral workshop on three of his most famous compositions: O Magnum Mysterium, Dirait-On and Sure On This Shining Night. Registration begins at 9:30 and the workshop will begin at 10:00 and end at 12:00 noon with one break. Music may be purchased at the beginning of the workshop.

Voce's electrifying choral ensemble will perform three of the six Fire Songs, O Nata Lux, Where Have the Actors Gone (first performance of the choral version) and the East Coast Premiere of Dr. Lauridsen's Chanson Eloignee. CCSU's polished University Singers will present La Rose Complete and Dirait-On, and the two ensembles will join forces to present Sure On This Shining Night and O Magnum Mysterium. The concert will also feature a performance of Dr. Lauridsen's Cuatro Canciones for soprano, piano, cello and clarinet. Dr. Lauridsen will accompany many of these compositions on piano.

As the culmination of a week-long residency here in the Hartford area by internationally acclaimed composer Morten Lauridsen, the combined choral forces of VOCE and the University Singers from CCSU, along with members of the Hartford Symphony, will present a concert of the music of Morten Lauridsen. His music is performed regularly by the world’s  foremost choruses and choirs.  Currently Professor of Composition at USC, his works have been recorded on well over 100 CDs , and he has been the recipient of numerous grants, prizes and commissions.
